Caroline Garcia v Petra Martic Head to Head

Garcia leads 4-1, last beating Martic in the 2022 Cincinnati Open. Martic beat the Frenchwoman that year too – but in the semifinal of the WTA Lausanne.

A Crucial Match for Garcia

France and Croatia both won their ties against Argentina in a convincing manner with a perfect 5-0 score. This means the winner of the fixtures between the two nations will proceed to the next round.

Garcia, who beat Nadia Podoroska 6-2, 6-0, will look to deliver a similar result against Martic. It is not an impossible feat, as the winds of momentum are on her side.

Caro enjoyed a superb season in 2022 as she reached her career-best ranking of World No. 4 and ended the year at 43-20.

The 29-year-old won the Cincinnati Open, WTA Finals, Poland Open, and Bad Homburg Open and reached her first major semifinal in the US Open. In these events, Garcia defeated several big names like Maria Sakkari, Aryna Sabalenka, Petra Kvitova, and Iga Swiatek.

Martic Survives Podoroska

While Garcia made quick work of Podoroska, Petra Martic had to work hard to earn the win. The match went to three sets, with the Croat winning 6-2, 4-6, 6-1.

Now ranked World No. 38, the 31-year-old ended last season at 33-21 and a sole singles title from the Laussane Open.

Martic’s other highlights include a third-round showing in the US Open and a fourth-round result at Wimbledon. However, she closed the season on a dull note by losing in round three in Tokyo and then early on in Monastir and the BJK Cup.

As a former World No. 14 with one grand slam quarterfinal being among the key points of her career, it is hard to imagine her taking on Garcia and winning the match. Although she did it once, Garcia’s form has since improved significantly.

Garcia v Martic Prediction and Tip

Expect Garcia to win this one. While Martic may put up a fight and take it to three sets, Caroline should win this one ultimately.
