Number three seed Daria Kasatkina is coming off a stellar 2022 season. She is the current World No. 8 – a career-best feat – and plans to go further this year.
She ended the previous tour with a tally of 41-22 – picking up two singles titles along the way. The 25-year-old Russian also reached her maiden Grand Slam semifinal in Paris, in addition to reaching the same stage in the Italian Open.
Needless to say, it has been a season of personal bests for Kasatkina. Having built the foundation superbly, she will now look to lay more bricks on the top. She closed the tour with a group stage showing in the WTA Finals.
Here in Adelaide International 1, Daria is in the same bracket as Ons Jabeur, Victoria Azarenka, and Anett Kontaveit. She is no stranger to taking on the big guns and is very well a player to look out for this week.

Noskova Clears the Qualifiers
Linda Noskova, age 18, is ready to take on the big guns on the WTA Tour. She made her tour debut just last year and, in the process, became the youngest player to reach the top 100 since Coco Gauff. Among her highlights are two ITF titles – including the $100k Reinert Open.
After that win in Germany, Noskova reached the semifinal in the Prague Open, where she dispatched the veteran French Alize Cornet in three sets.
The Czech is currently ranked #102 and started in Adelaide as a qualifier. In the first match, she defeated Anna Kalinskaya in a thrilling three-setter with 3-6, 6-2, 7-6(7). In the next one, she took out Anastasia Potapova in straight sets.
Clearly, Linda is a promising player and a potential dark horse.
Kasatkina v Noskova Prediction and Tip
This is one of those matches where Noskova is a player worth backing. While Kasatkina will start as the odds-on favourite, the youngster is likely to put up a fierce contest and give her adversary a run for her money. Expect a cracking affair.
