Karen Khachanov v Pedro Cachin Head to Head

Their only previous meeting came on the Challenger circuit in 2015 when Cachin defeated Khachanov on clay.

Khachanov Ends Previous Season on 36-25

Much like the season before last, Khachanov was there or thereabouts but not quite winning any titles. In 2022, he came close to doing that when he reached the final at this very tournament at the start of the year but a defeat to Gael Monfils put paid to his plans.

There were other decent showings too from the Khachanov stable.

A semifinal at Doha followed soon after. As did one in Belgrade. And a fourth round appearance at the French Open, falling a win short of his best ever at that tournament.

But Khachanov’s best run was reserved for the US Open where he stunned a few by reaching the semifinals before following to Casper Ruud.

Can he continue with that run and get things moving in 2023 as well?

Cachin Not Quite at Home on Hard Court

It was early in 2022 that the 26-year-old Cachin was ranked 247th in the world. Having begun his career in 2011, that seemed to be the par for the course for Cachin, having never made it past the 205 rank mark on the ATP circuit.

Suddenly, like a man possessed, Cachin went on a rampage on clay.

Four Challenger titles came his way, all of which on the red dirt again, and that form boiled over to the ATP circuit too where he recorded some of his best performances.

This included his career-best showing at all the Grand Slams – a second round of qualifiers at Australian Open, a second round at French Open, another second qualifying round and then a stunning third round appearance at the US Open.

Expect him to put up a show but as a clay-courter it could get difficult against the Russian.

Khachanov v Cachin Prediction and Tip

Khachanov starts off a 1/4 favourite to win this and on hard courts, he should not have much of a problem. Cachin will put up a fight though and we could see a few games played here.
