Jannik Sinner v Sebastian Korda Head to Head

This will be the second meeting between these two players with Sinner having won their first in Washington in 2021. It was a straight-set win but both sets had gone into a tie-breaker.

Sinner Solid against Kokkinakis

Sure Thanasi Kokkinakis put up a brave front in his second round match against Sinner but the Italian came through in straight sets to seal his quarterfinal berth.

Sinner was on court for just over two hours in his 7-6 (2), 6-4 victory in a match that saw Kokkinakis show better first serve figures than his opponent. Fortunately for Sinner, he got more first serves in and won 60% of his second serve points as well.

In the first set Sinner looked to be on his way to serving for it in the ninth game but dropped his serve to love. In the tie-breaker that followed, Sinner cruised to a victory after getting four set-points.

Things got a lot easier in the second set for Sinner who broke in the third game and never faced a break-point after that to wrap things up.

This follows a 6-3, 6-2 drubbing of Kyle Edmund in the first round for Sinner but things could get slightly tougher against an opponent who has shown a lot of form of his own too.

Korda Needs Two Sets against Bautista Agut

Having gotten past Andy Murray in the first round, Korda needed just an hour and 14 minutes to carve out a straight-set win over Bautista Agut in the second round of this competition.

He won 6-4, 6-4 in a match that saw a total of only four break-points on offer for either player, two apiece. While Korda broke his opponent both times, he saved the two that came against him to ensure there were no dramas and made it through to the last eight.

Korda raced to a 2-0 lead in the first set, clinching the set after conceding just five points on his own serve there. In the second set, it was in the sixth game that he faced two break-points but once he had saved both, there was no looking back.

Sure, he will now face a more difficult challenge coming into the quarterfinal but having made it to back to back finals in Gijon and Antwerp towards the end of the last season, Korda’s confidence will be inching up.

Can he test his more illustrious opponent in this one?

Sinner v Korda Prediction and Tip

This looks to be a close contest that Sinner holds an edge in but don’t discount Korda from making his opponent’s life difficult. Could either see a three-setter or a very hard-fought straight-set win for Sinner.
