Constant Lestienne v Gregoire Barrere Head to Head
This is an interesting one. The pair hasn’t faced off before this in any ATP-level tournament but scratch the surface a little and you have 10 previous meetings between Lestienne and Barrere on the Futures and Challengers circuit.
10 matches played, and both have won five apiece.
Their last such match-up came in the final of a hardcourt Challenger in Pozoblanco and Lestienne had won that in straight sets. Incidentally that was their only meeting in an outdoor hardcourt competition.

Lestienne Tames Cachin with Ease
A loss to Novak Djokovic last week in Adelaide would have taught Lestienne a few lessons or may have just reminded him of the gulf between him and the world’s best in tennis.
Either ways, he came out all guns blazing against Pedro Cachin in the first round here and came away an easy winner to march into the round of 16.
Lestienne needed just an hour and four minutes to blast past Cachin 6-3, 6-1. He raced away to two breaks of serves in the first set and was serving to go 5-1 up when he was broken for the only time in the match.
From that point on though, Lestienne dropped just two more games in the entire match to come away a winner.
He will look to renew his rivalry with Barrere at the highest level now.

Barrere Shock for Isner
John Isner has been around on the tennis circuit for ages now, and while the former world number eight has fallen to outside the top 40, there is still no denying his serve and the difficulties in getting past it.
Which is why Barrere had gone into their opening round encounter as a 13/10 underdog.
And as was expected, Isner proved to be difficult to break in the first two sets. Barrere had a couple of break-points in the first set but both were saved easily as the set went into a tie-breaker that the Frenchman lost.
He came back to win the second set tie-breaker before getting himself the only break of the entire encounter – it came in the sixth game of the final set.
Isner failed to break back and even more interestingly, Barrere faced not a single break-point in the match.
If Barrere continues to serve this well, it could get difficult for Lestienne too.
Lestienne v Barrere Prediction and Tip
Barrere’s serve was much talked about in his opening round match against Isner but the deal here is that match was played indoors because of inclement weather. The forecast for Wednesday, when this match will be played, isn’t too great either and if something like that repeats, we can expect Barrere to prove very difficult to beat.
Tips:
- Moderate Risk Tip: Barrere to win: 10/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
- High Risk Tip: Barrere to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with 888Sport)
