Cori Gauff v Katerina Siniakova Head to Head

On the WTA circuit these two have faced off three times and Gauff has won every single time including one last year in Adelaide. Siniakova pulled one back at the Billie Jean King Cup in 2022.

Gauff in Red-Hot Form after Auckland Win

Gauff is one of those few top women’s tennis players who enters the season’s first Grand Slam on the back of a winning streak. Playing in Auckland as her season opener, Gauff swatted all her opponents away to register a title win in grand style.

In fact, such was her dominance in the tournament, Gauff did not lose more than four games in any of the 10 sets she featured in.

And by the looks of it, her form and confidence grew substantially as the tournament progressed, with the American dropping a total of four games in the semifinals and final.

Sure, the only player of real quality that Gauff faced in the tournament was her second round opponent Sofia Kenin but the manner in which she disposed her off points to a player who is gunning for her maiden Grand Slam title.

Siniakova’s Won Just Two Matches at Australian Open

While there’s no doubting Siniakova’s love for clay, her performances in hardcourt competitions haven’t been too far off the mark either. Which is why her record at the Australian Open is somewhat of a surprise.

Having first played here in 2014, Siniakova has featured in every edition of this tournament since then but won just two matches – one in 2015 and another in 2018. Other than that, Siniakova has been ousted in the opening round each time, giving her a winning percentage of just 18% at this major.

Her record at all the other three Grand Slams is a lot better – 56%, 50% and 38%.

Coming into this year’s Australian Open, Siniakova stumbled in the qualifiers of the Adelaide International 1 while making the second round in the Adelaide International 2. But playing against Gauff in the kind of form she is, all of that shouldn’t matter too much.

Gauff v Siniakova Prediction and Tip

Gauff is one of the pre-tournament favourites and can be expected to steamroll Siniakova here. The Czech player’s only chance here is to go for the kill with her winners and hope they come off because otherwise, it would be tough to engage Gauff in any kind of a battle here.
