Veronika Kudermetova v Maryna Zanevska Head to Head

They have faced off once before at the highest level and once on the ITF circuit. Both times, it was Kudermetova who came away a winner.

Their last meeting came at the 2022 US Open and Kudermetova had won 6-2, 6-3 to make it to the third round.

Kudermetova 4-1 This Season

Kudermetova withdrew from the Adelaide International 2 before her semifinal against Belinda Bencic which wasn’t too much of a surprise given how close the match would have been to the start of the Australian Open.

Before that though, Kudermetova looked to have made a good start to the season.

Having jumped up into the top 10 of the WTA Rankings, Kudermetova made the quarterfinals of the Adelaide International 1 with wins over Amanda Anisimova and Bianca Andreescu. Both were straight-set victories.

Strangely, against the run of play she lost to Irina Begu despite starting out as a 1/4 in that match but that deter her from another couple of wins in the second tournament played at that very venue.

The Russian came through against Victoria Azarenka and Danielle Collins – both, in hard-fought three-setters – before withdrawing from her semifinal.

Can she start things off with a bang here?

Zanevska Coming off Hobart Second Round

As a player ranked outside the top 80, Zanevska had no option but to feature in the qualifying rounds at the Hobart International. It was the only tournament she played as a tune-up for the Australian Open and she won both her qualifiers to make the main draw.

Not much was expected out of her there as she faced fellow Belgian Elise Mertens who had gone into that encounter as a 2/5 favourite.

Zanevska dropped just eight games in her straight-set rout of Mertens and while she fell at the second hurdle to Sofia Kenin, she would have been reasonably satisfied with her effort.

The only problem now is Zanevska will be up against a top-10 player, who is in some of the most cracking form of her career.

Kudermetova v Zanevska Prediction and Tip

Kudermetova should have no major worries here and carve out a straight-set win.
