Denis Shapovalov v Taro Daniel Head to Head
There have been two previous meetings between them, both of which came in hardcourt competitions and Shapovalov has won both. The second of those two came in Dubai last year.

Shapovalov Needs Four Sets against Lajovic
Shapovalov was such a heavy favourite coming into his first round match against Dusan Lajovic, it was almost a surprise he dropped a set before making it through to the second round.
The Canadian, who was 1/12 odds on in his opener, endured a difficult situation when he fell 3-1 behind in the third set after the match read a set apiece. He needed to come back from 3-1 down in the set to win 11 of his next 13 games and come up trumps.
And while the Adelaide International quarterfinalist will be happy to have smashed 52 winners and 16 aces in the contest, he would also be concerned with his 39 unforced errors to go with them.
Against Daniel though, Shapovalov should not have those many difficulties.

Daniel Lives up to Favourites Tag
Ernesto Escobedo was once ranked 67th in the world but has now fallen outside the top 300 in the rankings. Which is why he wasn’t quite the favourite going into his first round match against Daniel, who started off at 3/5 odds to win this.
Daniel came away a winner in the end, but not before he had taken three hours and 16 minutes to make it through and he had to overcome the loss of the third set.
The world number 94 won 7-5, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to clinch the second round place at the Australian Open for the third time in his career. In fact, Daniel, whose best ever ranking was 64th at one stage, had made it to round three here last season.
Against Shapovalov, Daniel will need to bring out the kind of performance that had seen him shock Novak Djokovic once in his career, in a second round match at the Indian Wells Open of 2018.
Shapovalov v Daniel Prediction and Tip
Shapovalov is 1/4 to win this and there shouldn’t be too many doubts about the result. We also think Daniel will trouble his Canadian opponent a little and might even snatch a set off him.
