Frances Tiafoe v Shang Juncheng Head to Head
Tiafoe and Jungcheng have never faced off before this in a competitive match.

Tiafoe Makes it Six in Six
Tiafoe was instrumental in USA winning the United Cup early in January thanks to his spotless record. The American had won all five of his matches including four of them in straight sets.
No surprises then he had entered his opening round match against Daniel Altmaier as a 1/10 favourite to win it.
In the end, Tiafoe did win it but had to endure a late blip, one that saw him lose the third set and face a set-point in the fourth. The American came through 6-3, 6-3, 6-7 (5), 7-6 (6) to make the second round.
While Tiafoe’s bizarre outfit looked to have caught the attention of many a fans, his focus will be elsewhere as he looks to improve upon his 43 unforced errors he committed in the encounter. What’s noteworthy, however, is the fact that Tiafoe hit a whopping 81 winners and 24 aces, winning 84% of his first serve points.
What he would hope for is to not lose his focus mid-match like seemed the case in the final two sets.

Juncheng Ousts Otte in Opener
Juncheng needed to win his three qualifiers to make it through to the main draw and against the big-serving Oscar Otte, he was a 9/5 underdog to win his first ever Grand Slam match.
The 17-year-old is a former ITF world number one junior’s player and overcame Fábián Marozsán, Fernando Verdasco and Zsombor Piro to make the main draw. And facing Otte, he carved out a 6-2, 6-4, 6-7 (2), 7-5 win over him to clinch the second round spot.
Taking nearly three hours for the victory, Juncheng wasn’t quite in the kind of form that had seen him win his first ever Challenger title in Lexington last year.
A loss in the Canberra Challenger qualifiers bore ample testimony to this but Juncheng withstood 19 aces with 53 winners of his own to emerge victorious. The big question is whether the talented Chinese player can overcome Tiafoe in round two?
Tiafoe v Juncheng Prediction and Tip
Tiafoe has once made the quarterfinal here in Melbourne but other than that, he has been a part of six editions of Australian Open and never made past round two. This will be a good chance for the American to do so.
