Grigor Dimitrov v Laslo Djere Head to Head
Dimitrov and Djere have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Dimitrov Sends Karatsev Packing
Aslan Karatsev had shown signs of resurrection in the tournament in Pune leading up to the Australian Open and that would have given him some hope going into his opener against the 28th-ranked Dimitrov.
Dimitrov has had his issues with consistency but this time around he combined his flair with some fighting qualities to come through in straight sets.
A former semifinalist at this tournament, Dimitrov grew into the contest and carved out a 7-6 (3), 7-5, 6-2 win in two hours and 22 minutes. What stood out in the match was Dimitrov’s serving which saw him win 86% of his first serve points and never getting broken.
In fact, the Bulgarian player faced just one break-point in the entire match, saving it easily.
Just 12 unforced errors punctuated Dimitrov’s efforts, and with Karatsev losing 48 points to that, it became a one-way battle in the end.
If that’s the kind of tennis Dimitrov can continue playing, he could prove to be a handful for a few of his opponents. Including Djere.

Djere Manages Bergs Easily
Djere is more of a clay-court player but the start to this season hasn’t not been too off the mark in hardcourt competitions. A second round appearance at the Pune Open was followed by Djere taking down Jaume Munar and then stunning Casper Ruud in the Auckland Open en route a quarterfinal appearance.
Which is why coming into his opening round encounter against Zizou Bergs, Djere was 1/2 favourite to make it through and that’s exactly what he did.
The Serb, who was once ranked 27th in the world, won 6-4, 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 in two hours and 40 minutes to claim a place in the second round. Djere was broken twice the second set and was then a break down twice in the third set but came back to grab the win.
Against Dimitrov, Djere knows he will have a chance given his opponent’s inconsistencies. Will Djere be on the top of the game though like he has been this seeason?
Dimitrov v Djere Prediction and Tip
Dimitrov can blow hot and cold but he has shown enough this year to suggest he is ready to put up a fight as well. Expect him to come through here despite Djere’s solidity.
