Sebastian Korda v Hubert Hurkacz Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2021 Delray Beach Open final which Hurkacz won in straight sets to win his second title on the ATP circuit.

Korda Sends Medvedev Crashing
Daniil Medvedev had walked into this year’s Australian Open as one of the players who could probably stop Novak Djokovic from winning his 10th title here. Instead it’s Korda who has sent Medvedev on his way and in fine style.
Korda, who was 7/2 odds to edge his opponent out, needed a shade over three hours to overcome last year’s runner-up, 7-6 (7), 6-3, 7-6 (4) and move to round four.
Where Korda scored over Medvedev was the manner in played in clutch situations, winning 72% of his first serve points and hitting 50 winners in the process. As compared to that, Medvedev was almost meek in his effort, as just 28 winners flew from his racquet.
There was a brief period in the third set when Medvedev broke Korda back and led him for the first time in any set but the American quickly quelled that in the ensuing tie-breaker.
Korda had earlier sent Cristian Garin and Yosuke Watanuki out in the first two rounds but the manner in which he upped the ante after having earlier nearly beaten Novak Djokovic in the Adelaide International could hint at something special coming up.

Hurkacz Wins Second Five-Setter in a Row
There wasn’t much to choose between Hurkacz and Denis Shapovalov and that’s exactly how things went in their third round encounter.
The Polish number one squandered a two set advantage to win the match in the fifth set, with the two on court for three hours and 40 minutes. Hurkacz, who had earlier come through in five sets against Lorenzo Sonego, won 7-6 (3), 6-4, 1-6, 4-6, 6-3 to move into the fourth round for the first time in his career.
As far as the winners/unforced errors differential is concerned, there wasn’t much between them again – in fact Hurkacz was just short of Shapovalov’s count – while the two won similar number of points on their respective serves too.
Where things changed was a lot of Shapovalov’s good tennis came in the third set but in a crunch situation like the decider, he double-faulted twice, and hit 10 unforced errors. Hurkacz’s corresponding figures for that set were 0 and 5 respectively.
Hurkacz now faces an opponent who has been at his searing best, probably at his best all career. Does he have the wherewithal to get pushed into a long match again?
Korda v Hurkacz Prediction and Tips
Korda is starting off as a favourite and the manner in which he has played right from the beginning of this season it’s not hard to see why. Backing the American to win but for Hurkacz to also grab a set.
