Aryna Sabalenka v Elena Rybakina Head to Head
There have been three previous matches at the highest level between these two players and Sabalenka has won every single time. Two of these came in hardcourt competitions all three of them went into a third set.
More recently these two had also faced off in an exhibition match at the World Tennis League towards the end of 2022 and Rybakina had edged Sabalenka out in a third set match tie-breaker there.

Magda Linette carried the Polish flag into the semifinal after the world number one Iga Swiatek had been bundled out earlier but even she could not hold a candle to the might of Sabalenka.
Sure, Sabalenka was stretched a little in the beginning but once she found her bearings – and the first set – there was no looking back for the Belarusian.
The world number five w as 7-6 (1), 6-2 winner over Linette in a match that last an hour and 35 minutes. Blasting six aces and 33 winners, Sabalenka was helped by Linette’s inability to find herself something similar with the Pole helping herself to just nine winners and one ace. That’s where the match turned in Sabalenka’s favour.
Having entered the match on the back of a nine-match winning streak, Sabalenka lost her serve in the very first game of the encounter but that was the first and the last time she would get broken in the match.
Sabalenka broke back in the fourth game and then raced off to six straight sets in the tie-breaker that followed.
In the second, a break of serve for Sabalenka in the third and fifth game finished things off as the Linette fight fizzled out drastically.

Rybakina Rides the Azarenka Wave
For the second time in as many years, Rybakina wasn’t quite mentioned as a favourite to win a Grand Slam tournament. And for the second time she has proved her detractors wrong by making it to that very Grand Slam final.
Sure, there was a lot more surprise when Rybakina lifted the Wimbledon 2022 trophy but even here at the Australian Open, the likes of Swiatek, Cori Gauff, Caroline Garcia, Ons Jabeur and Sabalenka were given a solid chance of going the distance. Not Rybakina.
It has taken the power-packed Rybakina to usurp Danielle Collins, Swiatek and Victoria Azarenka at different points in the tournament to help herself to the final and get counted as one of the players to watch out even in the times to come.
The last of those matches came against Azarenka, a former, two-time Australian Open, who has looked confident all tournament. It took Rybakina an hour and 43 minutes to dismantle Azarenka and prevent an all-Belarusian final.
She won 7-6, (4), 6-3 after the first set saw both players lose their serve twice before Rybakina raced away to a 5-2 lead in the second with two breaks of serves.
Come the final, Rybakina will need to continue playing her aggressive game having served the most aces in the tournament – 45 to Sabalenka’s 29.
Sabalenka v Rybakina Prediction and Tips
While Sabalenka is a favourite, where Rybakina scores over her opponent is her serving which has seen her top the aces count and nudge past the Belrusian with a better double-faults record too. Rybakina has also won 80% of her first serves as compared to Sabalenka’s 75% while there isn’t anything to choose between the two on their second serves.
That’s where we think Rybakina might edge her opponent out and use her previous Grand Slam winning experience to clinch this.
