Rafael Nadal v Mischa Zverev Head to Head
The two players have met only twice so far, one of which was in Acapulco itself. Both of those matches were played in 2017 and Nadal, not so surprisingly, won on both occasions.
Nadal’s First Match Since the Australian Open
Rafael Nadal started his season with the Australian Open, where he sailed all the way to the final without dropping even a single set. On his way there, he defeated some big names like Tomas Berdych and Stefanos Tsitsipas.
However, all of that changed in the final against the Serbian machine Novak Djokovic. In what was a highly underwhelming performance by the Spaniard, he ended up losing in straight sets with 3-6, 2-6, 3-6. Throughout the match, Nadal was troubled heavily by Djokovic and despite his best efforts, he just couldn’t find a way.
Now after taking hiatus of more than a month, Nadal is back in action, this time in familiar territory. He won the Mexican Open twice in the career although, it was at a time when the competition was conducted on clay courts. The 11-time French Open champion was also a runner-up here in 2017 when he lost to Sam Querrey in the final.
The Spaniard has been taking things rather cautiously this season and all for good reason, given that he had an injury scare at the start of the year. With Mexican Open in line now, it will be interesting to see how he fares here.
Mischa’s Lacklustre Start to the Year
In an odd way, Nadal and Mischa have something in common – both the players have played only in the Australian Open so far.
However, Zverev’s run hasn’t been as great as that of Nadal’s. He lost his opening round in Melbourne to Alexei Popyrin. In fact, the last time he made it past the first round on the tour was back in the 2018 Cincinnati Masters, where he lost in the second round to Grigor Dimitrov.
Nadal v Zverev Predictions & Tips
This should be an easy win for Nadal, no questions asked. Expect the Spaniard to win this one comfortably with Betway offering 1/14. The possibility of Mischa delivering an upset here is very low although, at 15/2 with the same bookmaker, the chances do exist.
