Christopher Eubanks v Feliciano Lopez Head to Head

Eubanks leads Lopez 1-0 in their head-to-head, winning that match in the qualifying rounds of Indian Wells last season.

Eubanks on the Verge of Top 100 Breakthrough

Christopher Eubanks sits on the cusp of breaking the world’s top 100 for the first time in his career, sitting just five spots below the centurion club.

A big week in Acapulco, which will most definitely need Eubanks to win a few matches, should get him there. The American though knows the task in hand even though his first-round opponent Feliciano Lopez might be past it, he won’t take that matchup lightly.

Eubanks, himself, hasn’t won many matches on the ATP Tour this year in his career. In fact, the American one-hander has only managed 11 wins at Tour level since he made his debut in 2015.

Last week, he lost in the first round of the Monterrey Challenger to Guido Andreozzi in straight sets – a  surprise defeat that might just ignite some interest for Lopez.

Lopez On Retirement Tour

Feliciano Lopez will play his first ATP tournament of 2023. He is playing in a selected number of events this season as he winds down a tennis career spanning almost three decades.

Now 41, Lopez is the oldest statesman on the ATP Tour right now and has confirmed he will retire at Queens Club in London if he is offered a wild card, otherwise, the Mallorca Open could be where he brings the curtain down.

Either way, he will want to enjoy his last playing days as a professional. He doesn’t own a spectacular record in Acapulco, having made just one quarterfinal run back in 2018, but has lost four times in the opening round.

The Spanish lefty never won a main draw match in the whole of 2022, and the odds will be stacked against him to get any positive result on Monday.

Eubanks v Lopez Prediction and Tip

Eubanks is acutely aware of the opportunity of breaking the top 100 this week. And with a very winnable opener in Acapulco, he is unlikely to pass up that chance against a veteran of the men’s game who is past his peak.
