Varvara Gracheva v Anna Blinkova Head to Head
This has been an interesting rivalry with the duo having faced off five times including once in the qualifiers of the Hobart International earlier this year. it’s 3-2 in favour of Gracheva who had also won in Linz two weeks ago when they met in the first round there.

Gracheva Shocks Linette
Gracheva was 21/10 coming into her first round match here against the player in form all season, Magda Linette but turned those odds around to squeak past her opponent.
In a match lasting over two and a half hours, Gracheva made it through with a 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 win over Linette, edging past her opponent by getting those breaks when she needed them.
The first set was a case in point where Gracheva came back from 0-3 down to break her opponent three times in a row off the very first chance she got. An early break of serve in the second set kept Linette in the encounter and when she raced off to a 2-0 lead in the third, Gracheva looked cooked.
Except that she fought back to level things out at 2-2 and then went a break ahead to serve for the match at 5-3. While Linette broke right back, she failed to hold her own serve to fall to defeat.
Gracheva has been quite consistent all season, having reached the third round at the Australian Open, second round at Linz and again at the Merida Open – both times as a qualifier. Can she push on further this time around?

Blinkova Flies Past Li
In a match that lasted just an hour and 13 minutes, Blinkova managed to pull off her first main draw win since January 12 this season and reach the second round.
Things looked to have started off well for Blinkova when she reached the semifinal of the Hobart International in the lead-up to the Australian Open having started out as a qualifier. After that, however, she hadn’t won a thing.
After bowing out in that last four match at Hobart, Blinkova has lost in the first round at the Australian Open and Linz Open before finally getting past Ann Li in the opener here. She won 6-4, 6-4 in an hour and 13 minutes to seal her second round berth.
Right through her short career, Blinkova has shown inconsistencies in her performances, having won two titles at the WTA level but also struggled at other times. A victory first up here should help her confidence.
Gracheva v Blinkova Prediction and Tip
Blinkova has managed to shrug off her three-match losing streak and should start things off as a favourite here. We could see a tight match though.
