Johanna Konta v Pauline Parmentier Head to Head

The two ladies have met four times on the WTA Tour so far and Konta has won their last three meetings. She presently leads Parmentier by 3-1, with her last win coming in the 2017 Miami Open.

Konta’s Average Start to the Year

Konta, who is currently the World No. 45, has had a rather mediocre start to the season. In the first couple of months, the Brit has managed to win only four WTA matches on the tour (five, if we consider her brief stint in the WTA Sydney qualifiers).

Her struggles with form appear to continue – something that she has been dealing with since last year. In the Australian Open series, Konta barely made it past the early rounds. However, she can certainly seek some solace from her run in Brisbane, where she defeated the American No. 1 Sloane Stephens in the first round.

February was a relatively better month for Konta. She won her singles tie in the Fed Cup against the Serbian player Aleksandra Krunic and followed it with a quarterfinal run in the Mexican Open. Her rise, however, was halted by the in-form Croat Donna Vekic.

Parmentier Seeking an Inspiring Run

Parmentier had a sensational season last year when she won two singles titles on the tour – WTA Istanbul and Quebec after a hiatus of 10 years.

These two victories helped her gain a lot of momentum and Parmentier has been carrying forward with that confidence. At the same time, the 33-year-old is quite possibly nearing the end of her career and she will be eager to have one remarkable spell before she leaves the tour.

So far this season, she hasn’t been that impressive. Just like Konta, Parmentier too has been struggling with her form and hasn’t moved past the initial rounds. The sole exception to this came in Budapest, where she was a quarterfinalist.

Johanna Konta v Pauline Parmentier Tips & Predictions

While both the players are heading into this fixture on the back of average spells, Konta will start as the favourite here owing to her winning experience. Nonetheless, Parmentier is a player who can surprise at times and this may prove to be one of those instances.

Tip: Konta to win 2-0: 4/5 (betway)
