Danielle Collins v Anna Kalinskaya Head to Head

This will be the second time these two players will be facing off in a competitive match. In their first match that came at the Australian Open earlier this year, Collins had needed three sets to get past Kalinskaya.

Collins Cruises Past Caty

Caty McNally has put up some impressive performances this season but against Collins she came a cropper.

Collins needed a mere 67 minutes to crush McNally 6-1, 6-1 in the second round, which would have come as a relief for her after a difficult opening round encounter. There she had needed three sets to edge past Magdalena Frech and make the second round despite starting out a 1/6 favourite.

In the second round, however, Collins was off to a flying start as she broke McNally five times from the eight opportunities she got.

She also saved both the break-points she faced despite her serving statistics not really rising to the kind of numbers she would have liked – she got just 59% of her first serves in and won only 50% of her second serves.

Can Collins now maintain that same rhythm against a player whom she has beaten in the past?

Kalinskaya Has a Breeze against Coco

Kalinskaya was always a favourite going into her second round match against Coco Vandeweghe and she easily lived up to those odds in their second round encounter.

The world number 67 needed a mere 57 minutes to register a 6-3, 6-1 win over Vandeweghe to march into the quarterfinals where she takes on a player she has played once before.

What separated Kalinskaya apart was her brilliant serving that saw her win 90% of her first serve points. Her opponent managed a corresponding figure of 68% and won just 38% of her second serves, which meant Kalinskaya found it relatively easier to break Vandeweghe.

She did that four times from the five opportunities she got while saving the only break-point she faced.

Kalinskaya had earlier needed three sets to get past Nao Hibino, and with this win over Vandeweghe it’s the first tournament this season in which she has emerged victorious on two successive occasions.

Collins v Kalinskaya Prediction and Tip

Collins will be a favourite here again and this time around we might even see her come through in straight sets.
