Sianiakova’s Early Exit in Monterrey
The last time Katerina Siniakova was on the court was last week in Monterrey yet it was a short stay in Mexico. A first-round loss to Kamilla Rakhimova is not an impressive result as it’s a matchup that she should have won. She’s generally been pretty solid this year reaching the Merida semi-final the week before Monterrey.
Her score is 7-5 which is fairly solid. It’s very similar to her final score last year which was 28-21 and she’s on pace to post a similar one. Her best tennis generally comes on clay in my opinion but her level is pretty similar on all surfaces.
Due to her doubles prowess, she’s played fairly long on all surfaces so there isn’t much there. An aggressive player by trait, Siniakova is capable of both absorbing power and generating it with solid movement as well. It’s hard to outhit her and Indian Wells favours those that can attack consistently.
Expect a good effort from her as she generally gets at least one win in Indian Wells before losing. That’s what happened in the previous two years.

Poor Form from Niemeier
It hasn’t been a very good time for the German on the courts recently as her previous three outings all finished with losses. The score this year is only 2-8 and it’s a shockingly poor start for a player many thought would take the next step in her career.
Niemeier is an interesting player who had some major results last year. All of that saw her improve her ranking but if she continues to play like this, she’ll find herself dropping very quickly. She’s yet to win a match on hard court and doing that here will be tough.
Indian Wells favours attacking players like her but she’s incredibly streaky. When she’s not feeling it, there simply isn’t a way for her to win. She keeps hitting the balls wide and it’s not a pretty sight. On the other hand, when she is feeling it, she can nearly beat players like Iga Swiatek.
It’s tough to say what kind of player we will get but considering last week’s Monterrey loss saw her lose 1-6 0-6, it might be safe to assume it won’t be her best.
Siniakova v Niemeier Prediction and Tip
This is a rather simple one for me. One player is playing significantly better than the other and I’ll back Siniakova to win.
