Emil Ruusuvuori v Constant Lestienne Head to Head

Lestienne leads Ruusuvuori 1-0 in their head-to-head, winning that encounter at the 2022 Tel Aviv Open.

Woeful Start to 2023 for Ruusuvuori

The only positives to come out from the first two months of the season for Emil Ruusuovri is the key role he played at the Davis Cup where he notched two fine wins over Argentina in singles, to ensure Finaldn will be in the Finals later this year for the first time in their history.

Aside from that, Ruusuvuori has not had a lot of joy, losing the bulk of his points in Pune and failing to win back-to-back matches at any tournament on the ATP Tour.

He has since fallen outside the world’s top 50, and sits just three spots above his Indian Wells first-round opponent Constant Lestienne.

Last week, the Finn lost to Australia’s Christopher O’Connell in the first round of the Dubai Tennis Championships. Despite entering the match as an odds-on favorite at 1/2, he was beaten in straight sets.

Lestienne On Four-Match Losing Streak

While Ruusuvuori has struggled to string wins together, World No. 62 Constant Lestienne hasn’t managed to hit his stride in recent weeks.

Outside the semifinal in Auckland at the start of the season, the Frenchman has picked up one main draw win in five tournaments.

However, last week he pushed Tallon Griekspoor to a decider in Dubai, but could not keep up with the Dutchman’s huge serving and pacey ground strokes.

Ruusuvuori will look unleash off his forehand here. The slow-playing surface at the desert means that Lestienne is unlikely to have room to finish off points at will like on the indoor hard courts of Tel Aviv. He is 9/5 to claim the upset on Wednesday.

Ruusuvuori v Lestienne Prediction and Tip

No surprises to see here. Just like in Tel Aviv when they clashed, Lestienne will start the match as the underdog (although he won there, the conditions are different here).

The Frenchman will be encouraged by his level in Dubai where he took a set off an in-form Tallon Griekspoor, but Rusuvuori has enough groundstroke power to break him down here.
