Shuai Zhang v Rebecca Peterson Head to Head
The pair have played each other three times before, and Peterson leads their head to head series by two matches to one.
Zhang won their first encounter in 2017 in Honolulu, but it was the Swede who came out on top a year later in Acapulco, and again in Andorra three months ago.

Zhang Made Fourth Round in Melbourne
Zhang first appeared in Indian Wells in 2011, with her best performance in this tournament coming seven years ago when she reached the third round, a feat she was to emulate two years later.
Her seeding meant that she was excused first round duties this year.
By far her best performance of the year to date came at the Australian Open, where she benefitted from a relatively kind draw to reach the fourth round, losing eventually to Karolina Pliskova.
That was her second successive fourth round appearance in a Grand Slam – she also reached the same stage in last year’s US Open.
Results have tailed off since then. She lost in the second round in Lyon, and in the first round in both Doha and Abu Dhabi.

Peterson Beats Austin Winner Kostyuk
Despite reaching her first final in four years in Merida – she was eventually beaten by the Italian Camila Giorgi – Peterson was still required to qualify in Indian Wells, beating first Simona Waltert of Switzerland and then Caroline Dolehide of the USA, both in straight sets, to earn her spot in the main draw.
There she was handed a tough-looking tie against Marta Kostyuk, who had just won her first WTA title in Austin, but it was the Swede who overcame the world number 40 in three sets.
The first set established the tone for the match, with both women struggling on serve.
Kostyuk had the chance to serve for the set, could not take it, but then held three set points in the next Peterson service game without being able to convert any of them. She was made to pay for that when she was broken again next game, and Peterson served out.
The pair swapped breaks twice in the second set, but serving to stay in it, this time the Swede faltered, and the match was level again.
When Kostyuk went two breaks down early in the third set, the writing appeared on the wall for the Ukrainian, but, to her credit, she recovered both of them.
But, with another tie-break looming, she allowed herself to be broken one more time, presenting Peterson with the chance to serve for the match, which she duly took.
Zhang v Peterson Prediction and Tip
Although Zhang is the higher ranked player, Peterson has the better head to head record, and she will be full of confidence after her exploits in Mexico and also after beating Kostyuk.
That makes the Swede favourite for this match.
