Sinner Hoping He’s Feeling Better

It’s already been a long season on court for Sinner and that was the reason he even withdrew from his second round match at the Marseille Open late last month. He would have had a reasonable few days to recover from all the fatigue he might have been feeling after playing back to back tournaments in February.

Fresh from having made the fourth round at the Australian Open, Sinner proceeded to feature in the Montpellier Open and Rotterdam Open. And he made the final in both those tournaments.

At the former, Sinner went on to win the title before overcoming Stefanos Tsitsipas, Stan Wawrinka and Tallon Griekspoor to make it to the title-deciding round in Rotterdam.

Daniil Medvedev got the better of him in the final there but it needed the Russian to come away with a three-set win.

Sinner will now look at Indian Wells Masters as a tournament where he has never gone beyond the fourth round. He would be hoping to change things around there.

Gasquet Overcomes Odds to Beat Gojo

It took Gasquet two hours and 12 minutes but he did make it through to the second round, needing three sets to get past Borna Gojo.

Gasquet was a 6-4, 6-7 (5), 6-2 winner over his Croatian opponent having endured 20 aces and some strong first serving. Where the Frenchman scored over Gojo was his experience – he attacked Gojo at his most vulnerable, getting past his second serve on 24 of the 38 occasions it was on show.

Sure, Gasquet was broken twice too – both in the second set – but during other times he faced no break-points at all.

This follows a title win for Gasquet at Auckland where he had defeated Cameron Norrie in the final. Will he have the same confidence against a player of the calibre of Sinner though?

Sinner v Gasquet Prediction and Tip

Sinner should be fresh enough after having taken a two-week break from the sport and possess enough quality to overcome his opponent in straight sets.
