Felix Auger-Aliassime v Francisco Cerundolo Head to Head
Auger-Aliassime leads Francisco Cerundolo 1-0 in their head-to-head, winning their third-round match at this year’s Australian Open in four sets.

Auger-Aliassime Downs Martinez
Pedro Martinez had a poor record coming to Indian Wells, but the Spaniard got a great first-round win here to resuscitate his lost confidence. He needed that in plenty against Auger-Aliassime – the eighth-seeded Canadian – who in truth, had not set the world alight in 2023.
Martinez made a quickfire start, breaking the Auger-Aliassime serve in the opening game. The World No. 120 huffed and puffed and found a way to win points by adding a little variation to his game. That was a tactic that paid dividends as Martinez saved 14 of the 15 break points he faced in the first set.
However, Auger-Aliassime made his move at 4-5 when Martinez served for the first set, converting the one break point left and going on to win the set in a tiebreak.
While Martinez competed fiercely in the second set, Auger-Aliassime did not give him a window of opportunity on his serve. The Canadian broke very late in the set to win 7-6 6-4 in two hours and 27 minutes.

Cerundolo Overcomes Sock
Francisco Cerundolo knew the task in hand, playing a former top-tenner on home turf even in his declining years, is hardly a pushover. That was the scenario when he lined up to face wild card, Jack Sock.
And Jack Sock ensured he did not go down without a fight. Cerundolo came from a set down to win 4-6 6-3 6-4 in two hours and 15 minutes.
The Argnetine’s forehand was a menace with data from Tennis Insights depicting that his forehand clocked an average of 81 mph forehand speed. Cerundolo used that signature shot to hammer 22 winners past Sock.
Sock tallied 10 aces, but his eight double faults nullified the good work. He also hit eight winners fewer than the Argentine, and the insurance of a double break late in the third set meant that the match was beyond Sock’s reach despite restoring one of the breaks back.
Auger-Aliassime v Cerundolo Prediction and Tip
Auger-Aliassime is slowly getting back to the level he intends to play at. He has invested heavily in getting that level back and we might have caught a glimpse of that in his win over a surprisingly high-quality performance from Martinez. The serve is the launchpad to a great win and if the Auger-Aliassime can stay perfect there, he should not face any resistance.
