Jannik Sinner v Stan Wawrinka Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these two players and it’s tied at two wins apiece for both.
Wawrinka won in first two matches, both of which came in 2019. More recently, in 2022 at Wimbledon and earlier this year in Rotterdam, it was Sinner who came through.

Sinner Saves Set-Point against Mannarino
Things did not go as planned for Sinner but he still found a way to come away a winner against Adrian Mannarino in the third round. The Italian won 7-6 (7), 6-4 in a match that could have gone his opponent’s way with some luck but an hour and 49 minutes later, Sinner did find a way to win it.
Sinner did not face a single break-point in the entire match but more vitally earned just two of them on his opponent’s serve too. That he managed to convert one of them late in the second set was testimony to his doughty play before serving it out.
In the first set, Sinner managed to take Mannarino to a deuce on his serve just once and still failed to get a break-point. He then had to save a set-point in the ensuing tie-breaker.
The second set went without a break-point till the ninth game of the set when Sinner finally earned himself two chances and utilised one of them.
On the one hand Sinner will be pleased with his own serving which saw him win 80% of all points on his own serve. On the other, he will want to turn things around on his opponent’s serve come the fourth round.

Wawrinka Shocks Rune
For only the second time in nearly two and a half years, Wawrinka has managed to win three matches in a row in a tournament. And he did this on the back of a victory over the world number eight, Holger Rune, who was a 1/4 favourite coming into the encounter.
Wawrinka won 6-2, 6-7 (5), 7-5 in a match that went on for two hours and 40 minutes and saw the Swiss player out-serve Rune in every aspect.
He hit 12 aces to Rune’s six, got 57% of his first serves in and won 74% of them as compared to 55% and 64% respectively for his opponent and even on his second serves, Wawrinka was way better.
It meant that in the final set Wawrinka took his time to get the better of Rune’s serve but dropped just three points on his own serve throughout. In the 11th game, Wawrinka broke him and then served out to love to win it.
This Wawrinka victory follows wins over Aleksander Vukic and Miomir Kecmanovic but can he now repeat it against a more disciplined Sinner?
Sinner v Wawrinka Prediction and Tip
Sinner will start off a favourite here but will need to be wary of a resurgent Wawrinka. Expect a fighting match that Sinner still manages to win in two.
