Arthur Rinderknech v Taro Daniel Head to Head

The two have never met on the tour, but they are 1-1 from lower level tournaments.

Rinderknech Hasn’t Got Going Yet

Last year, Arthur Rinderknech was off to a brilliant start, reaching his maiden ATP final in Adelaide-2 and also making it to the semifinals in Doha. This year, he just hasn’t got going.

The 27-year-old Frenchman began the season with a 1-1 record at the United Cup, but he followed that with back-to-back opening round defeats in Adelaide-2 and the Australian Open.

There was some respite in Montpellier, where he won his second match of the season, but lost in the second round.

Rinderknech then failed to qualify for Rotterdam Open, and lost the opener in Marseille.

Overall, he is 2-6 on the tour in 2023. He suffered his most recent loss to Jiri Lehecka in the first round in Indian Wells.

But while the Frenchman has struggled on the tour, he did well in his only Challenger Tour event of the year earlier this month, reaching the semifinals in Pau on the back of three wins. He was denied a spot in the final by eventual champion Luca Van Assche.

Rinderknech will be hoping to start well in Miami, where he had reached the second round on his debut last year.

Daniel In Brilliant Form

Japan’s Taro Daniel has been handed a wild card for the tournament.

The 30-year-old has been playing some brilliant tennis over the last one month as a result of which he has made big gains in the rankings and is back into the top 100 after having fallen to no. 125 in February.

Currently ranked no. 97, Daniel went from qualifiers to quarterfinals in Acapulco, defeating world no. 4 Casper Ruud in the round of 16 to clinch his first career top 10 win. He then qualified for Indian Wells and made it to the third round of the tournament, defeating another top player in Matteo Berrettini in the second round.

Daniel is 6-4 on the tour, and 12-7 across levels this season and he is 11-7 on hard courts.

Given his form he will be hoping for another surprise run in Miami, where he will be making his third main draw appearance. His best in the tournament so far has been a second round appearance last year.

If he wins the first round, he will be up against the 13th seed Alexander Zverev, who has a first round bye.

Arthur Rinderknech v Taro Daniel Prediction and Tip

Daniel is the lower ranked player, but he is in hot form at the moment and so he will be the favourite to win this contest.
