Tamara Korpatsch v Tereza Martincova Head to Head
They have never faced off on the WTA circuit. Their only previous meeting came on the ITF circuit in 2015 and Martincova had won that on an indoor hardcourt.

After the kind of season Korpatsch had last year, she would have been baying for more of those results.
After all, her world number 182 had improved to a career-best of 74th in the world thanks to her two titles wins on the ITF circuit and she added another WTA 125 tournament win while making it to the final of a second WTA 125 competition.
Unfortunately for Korpatsch, this has been a highly forgettable year so far. And by some distance.
True, she is more of a clay-court player and all the tournaments she has been a part of have been on hardcourts but a 0-7 win-loss record is hardly something she would have expected in 2023.
So much so Korpatsch opted not to play in the Indian Wells Open after suffering opening round defeats in two ITF competitions as well.

Martincova Yet to Win a Main Draw Match in 2023
While Korpatsch hasn’t won a single match this year, Martincova has pocketed six of them but none of them have come in the main draw of any WTA tournaments. All six have been in qualifiers of events including two here in Miami.
Unfortunately for Martincova, she has followed that up with defeats in the opening round of four tournaments – the first four she played in 2023 – and lost her confidence so badly that she didn’t enough make it past the qualifiers in the next four.
It’s finally in Miami that Martincova overcame Simona Waltert and Julia Grabher to enter round one of the competition.
At Miami, Martincova has won one match in the past – it came in 2021 – and she will be hoping to emulate that this time. In turn, she would also hope to carve out her maiden win of the season at the expense of a player who has won none of the seven matches she has played this year.
Korpatsch v Martincova Prediction and Tip
Neither player has won a main draw match this season which makes this an interesting set-up. We will have to back Martincova since her record on hardcourt surfaces is slightly better than her opponent’s but the match could see a three-setter.
