Andy Murray v Dusan Lajovic
Andy Murray will be looking to win his first-round matchup in Miami and it’s a very favourable one. Lajovic never was and probably never will be a very good hard court player but he can beat you if you give him a chance. Murray played well in Indian Wells and it’s expected he wins this one.
Despite both of them being long-time players on the tennis tour they didn’t really play so far. It will be the first time they face off and it comes when they are both playing solid tennis. Lajovic has been okay so far with a 9-7 score but all three of his hard court matches were losses.
Murray has been better with a 10-4 score and he’s done really well in Miami in the past. He knows the courts and it’s widely expected that he’ll know how to attack Lajovic as she should be the more aggressive player.
If his serve serves him well it should really be a simple two-set contest. We recommend that because it’s a far better value than simply the win as the odd is too low.
Tip: Murray to win in straight sets: 3/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Gael Monfils v Ugo Humbert
Gael Monfils is back to playing tennis but he’s not playing very good tennis. It’s only natural after he missed such a long time and even better players like Djokovic demonstrated that it takes some time. For him, it’s mostly about getting in some matches and build for the upcoming weeks.
Humbert is a player who had his own struggles last year but he seems to have finally figured it out this year and he’ll be tricky to beat here. The serve is the most crucial weapon for Humbert as his tennis gets defused once the serve doesn’t work well.
The forehand is another major weapon and that’s what he’ll be using here. It worked for him at Wimbledon in 2019 when he beat Monfils in five sets with that being their only match so far. This one finds the older Frenchman out of form and Humbert is likely to pounce.
There is very good value in Humbert winning in straight sets but I’m a bit wary of that. I could see Monfils finally snatch a set though Humbert should still win.
Tip: Humbert to win: 9/20 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
Emma Raducanu v Bianca Andreescu
The blockbuster match of the first round is between these two players. Chris Evert called it a ‘fireworks matchup’ and it certainly should be. When you hear such a description you know it’s going to be a close and competitive matchup so the pick is three sets.
There is a very good reason for that and it’s mostly that both are good but they are not good enough to win in straight sets. Raducanu is still nursing her wrist injury and Andreescu has played some spectacular tennis in Miami in the past.
It’s a court that works really well in her favour and she’ll have plenty chances to put a lot of pressure on Raducanu. Lsat year in Rome that pressure resulted in a win so if she can repeat that it will be a really good chance for Bianca.
I favour her to win because I think Raducanu will the effects of Indian Wells on her wrist and I simply see Raducanu as the one more likely to endure a grueling battle in three sets.
Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
