Victoria Azarenka v Camila Giorgi Head to Head
They played three times so far with Azarenka leading 2-1. The most recent one was played in 2019 with Azarenka winning in straight sets.

Victoria Azarenka played really well to start the year in Australia but she’s been slowing down a bit with an early exit in Indian Wells. That loss was a bit shocking because she generally did really well at that event. She’s a former finalist but Muchova had no issues beating her in two sets.
She will be hoping to produce a better level at this event. She didn’t do well here in the most recent years but she did really well earlier in her career. The court gives her a chance to play counter-punching tennis that she loves to play.
She will need to serve well because she’s facing a player that will punish players who give her a slower serve. Giorgi has a lot of power so if she hits that ball hard, Azarenka won’t have enough time to hit the ball back.
Generally she does really well against Giorgi because she sends many tricky balls back and Giorgi hits it wide. They haven’t played recently and the Italian became quite a bit more stable with her tennis.

Giorgi Downs Kanepi
Camila Giorgi defeated Kaia Kanepi in the first round of the Miami Masters and it was a brutal match that lasted almost four hours which is crazy for a best-of-three match. We saw two tiebreaks with one won by Giorgi and the second one won by Kanepi. Giorgi then had a big lead in the final set but threw it away.
Still, it was enough to surive and book a second-round clash with Azarenka. There is no way that she won’t be feeling that match in the next round but luckily she will have one day to recover which should be enough.
I would not be surprised if we see a very deflated Giorgi in the next round because the Italian doesn’t look too physically imposing on the court. She’s had trouble against Azarenka in the past because the Belarussian isn’t the type of player she enjoys playing.
Trading blows will be tough but if she can produce a stable level she’ll have a chance. The serve could give her some free points but she’ll need to be very sharp.
Azarenka v Giorgi Prediction and Tip
Considering all the circumstances I see Azarenka winning this match. I like the matchup for her and those three and half hours will affect the legs of Giorgi and if she doesn’t have her legs it will be tough.
