Andrey Rublev v J.J. Wolf Head to Head

Rublev won their only meeting in Washington last year.

Rublev Is 8-7 in Miami

Andrey Rublev will be disappointed with a Round of 16 exit from Indian Wells. However, the Russian will look to make up for it in Miami.

But he doesn’t have a great record in the tournament.

Although he is making his eighth appearance in Miami, Rublev has only twice been able to go past the second round, once in 2019, when he lost in the third round and the other time in 2021, where he went on to reach the semifinals.

How deep can he go this year? The sixth seed is in decent touch and brings an 11-7 record into the tournament, so there are expectations from him to do well in the tournament.

Rublev reached his 18th career final in Dubai this year, but he could not add to his 12 titles, going down to Daniil Medvedev in the final. In the other tournaments, Rublev was a quarterfinalist at the Australian Open and in Doha. He also lost his opening matches in three tournaments this season.

He starts against a tough competitor on Friday. Can he cross the opening hurdle?

Wolf Ends Three-Match Losing Streak

J.J. Wolf ended a three-match losing streak with a straight sets win over Alexander Bublik.

Wolf, who had last won a match on February 14 against Ilya Ivashka in the first round of Delray Beach, had lost his second round match in Delray Beach and then followed it up with back-to-back opening round defeats in Acapulco and Indian Wells.

However, he made a winning start in Miami on Wednesday, knocking out the Kazakh 7-5, 6-3.

In the one hour and 19 minute contest, Wolf withstood 9 aces from Bublik. The American won 82% points on the back of his first delivery, converted 4 of 6 break points and saved 2 of 4 to move into the second round.

Ranked no. 50 in the world, Wolf has a 9-6 record this year. He had made his fourth round debut at a Grand Slam at the Australian Open and was also a semifinalist in Dallas.

Having started off well, he will be aiming to give Rublev a run for his money.

Rublev v Wolf Prediction and Tip

Rublev is the more accomplished player. He is also the one who has produced more wins this year and is in decent form at the moment. Wolf may give him a tough fight, but eventually the world no. 7 should reach the next rond.
