She has never played a main draw match in Miami before, but the 29-year-old Zhu Lin brings good form to this year’s tournament and will be looking to embark on an impressive run on debut.
Lin is 13-6 so far in 2023 and has already won a title in Hua Hin — her first ever title on the tour.
Playing in her first tour level final, Lin defeated Lesia Tsurenko in straight sets to clinch the title.
A winner 15 ITF titles, Lin won three of them last year. She has been in terrific form right from the start of 2023.
After reaching the quarterfinals of the Auckland Open, Lin went on to reach the fourth round of the Australian Open, defeating Maria Sakkari on the way. The world no. 40 then claimed the Hua Hin title and also reached the semifinals in Monterrey.
Knocked out in the first round in Indian Wells, she will be hoping to overcome the setback in Miami, but faces an extremely tough opponent in Karolina Muchova. Can she win on her main draw debut in Miami?

Muchova Thrashes Teichmann
Karolina Muchova made a brisk start as she breezed past Jil Teichmann in the first round on Wednesday.
The Czech player, who lost considerable amount of time last year due to injury and fell out of the top 100, has made steady progress this year. Currently ranked no. 55 in the world, she has been consistent this season and after a flying start she will be aiming to go deep in Miami as well.
Muchova, who qualified for the main draw with straight sets drubbing of Heather Watson and Kristína Kučová respectively, needed less than an hour to thrash Teichmann 6-0, 6-2 in the first round.
Muchova didn’t get broken in the match, saving the only break point that she faced. In contrast, she held seven break points in the match and converted five of them.
Muchova is 14-4 in 2023 and that includes her two qualifying wins in Miami. She was a quarterfinalist in Auckland and also made it to the last eight in her previous two tournaments in Dubai and Indian Wells.
Lin v Muchova Prediction and Tip
Lin is the seeded player, while Muchova is the qualifier, but form and experience both back the latter in this contest. She has slowly found her rhythm and is looking dangerous with every game. Expect the Czech to win the contest in straight sets.
