Petra Kvitova v Donna Vekic Head to Head

Vekic Needs Three Sets against Brengle
Having risen in the rankings to 20th in the world, Vekic was a heavy favourite in her second round match against Madison Brengle. Brengle, however, carved out the first set and made Vekic fight hard for her victory.
In a match lasting an hour and 52 minutes, Vekic finally came through 4-6, 6-4, 6-3 to reach the third round.
Vekic, who has never entered round four in Miami before this, was down an early break and while she fought back to level out things, Brengle scooped up the set with a decisive break in the ninth game.
The players traded four breaks of serves in the second set before Vekic stormed to an equaliser by getting the better of Brengle’s serve in the 10th game. She repeated that in the first four games of the decider and clinched in three.
This was Vekic’s 15th win of the season to go with a mere three defeats. In this kind of form, she could prove to be a handful.
