Tiafoe in Top Form
Frances Tiafoe is making his debut in Monte-Carlo this year and he comes into this year’s tournament in terrific form. While we were writing the preview, Tiafoe was preparing to play the Houston Open final — his first singles final of the season.
Tiafoe was 18-6 in 2023 ahead of the Houston final against Tomás Martín Etcheverry on Sunday night.
The American, ranked no. 15 in the world, led Team USA to the United Cup title. He was also a semifinalist in Indian Wells and a quarterfinalist in Dallas and Acapulco.
Tiafoe, who has one ATP title, was preparing to play his third clay court final in Houston.
The 25-year-old has shown constant improvement over the last one year and has constantly risen in the rankings as well. He touched a career-high of no. 14 in February this year. He will be reaching a new high of no. 12 on Monday and if he succeeds in winning the title in Houston, he will rise to no. 11 in the rankings.

Lehecka Prepares for First Clay Tournament of Season
Last year’s ATP Next Gen finalist and this season’s Australian Open quarterfinalist Jiri Lehecka will be making his second appearance in Monte-Carlo.
Last season, the 21-year-old Czech made it to the main draw of the tournament through the qualifying rounds, but lost his first round match to David Goffin.
Lehecka played in two Challenger finals last year, both on clay, winning one in Liberec, Czech Republic and finishing runner-up in Mauthausen, Austria.
The Czech player is 16-8 across levels this year. He will be playing his first clay court tournament in Monte-Carlo.
In addition to his quarterfinal finish at the Australian Open, he was a semifinalist in Doha and made it to the third round in Miami.
Can he make a bright start?
