Casper Ruud v Jan-Lennard Struff Head to Head
Two previous matches between these two have resulted in two wins for Struff. They haven’t played each other in four years.

Ruud Beats a Challenging van de Zandschulp
While his second round match did not turn out to be as straightforward as he would have liked, Ruud ended up winning in two sets.
The Norwegian number one was on court for two hours and 17 minutes to come through 7-5, 7-6 (1) against Botic van de Zandschulp following an opening round bye.
Seeded fourth in the competition, Ruud struggled with his serve and was broken four times in the match. He led 4-2 in the opening set but dropped serve after that before claiming the lead by breaking van de Zandschulp in the 11th game.
In a topsy-turvy second set, Ruud was the one to draw blood but then dropped his serve twice in a row to fall 4-1 behind. He broke back in the seventh game and then went ahead in the 11th to serve for the match, only to lose serve again.
The tie-breaker that followed turned out to be a one-sided one though as Ruud came through to notch up his fifth successive win on clay this season.

Struff Stuns de Minaur
While Struff started out a 7/5 underdog against Alex de Minaur, he hardly played like one as he carved out a straight-set win over his Aussie opponent in the second round.
Following successive victories over Juan Pablo Varillas and Emil Ruusuvuori in the qualifiers, Struff had made it to the round of 32 with a thumping performance against Albert Ramos-Vinolas.
A lot of that win had been attributed to Ramos-Vinolas’ deteriorating form in 2023 but against de Minaur, Struff brought out his A game.
In the end, it took Struff a mere 70 minutes to come through, defeating the world number 19 de Minaur 6-3, 6-2. It smooth sailing for Struff in the first set where he broke his opponent twice without return.
And even after losing his serve in the first game, Struff stormed right back into it by breaking his opponent three more times in the set to clinch it.
Can he now put up a fight against the world number four?
