Pedro Cachin v Abedallah Shelbayh Head to Head
While they have never faced off in a competitive match before this, they did play each other on the Futures circuit in 2020 and Cachin had won it in three sets.

Cachin Usually Solid on Clay But Off Colour
After having started off the season with five successive losses at the highest level, Cachin finally pocketed his first victory on the clay courts of Buenos Aires where he defeated Thiago Monteiro.
That, however, did not change things around too much for the Argentine, who went on to lose three matches on the bounce on clay again.
Cachin was then forced to play on the Challenger tour and he made the quarterfinal in Girona and then entered round two at the Estoril Open as well. Moving to the Madrid Challenger, Cachin finished up as a finalist, giving him some hope of a resurrection as he got more and more into the rhythm of clay.
At Barcelona last week, he won his opener against Gijs Brouwer but then Stefanos Tsitsipas had his measure.
What one can take away from these results is Cachin hasn’t had the best of starts but he does look like he is slowly getting into his groove. This opener should not test him too much in that case.

Shelbayh Finally Wins a Match
For the first time in his career, Jordan’s Shelbayh won a match at the highest level and that came at the Banja Luka Open last week.
Making it to the main draw as a qualifier, Shelbayh eased past fellow qualifier Elias Ymer, carving out a 6-1, 7-5 win over his Swedish opponent. He then put up a fighting display against Miomir Kecmanovic before falling away in a second set tie-breaker.
Till last year, Shelbayh hadn’t even won a Challenger title and all his three Futures competition wins had come outside of clay.
His showing on clay have been more measured than on other surfaces at the Challenger level too, with Shelbayh making the final of the Manama Challenger while winning just one main draw match on clay in the Challengers.
Can he test Cachin here?

Cachin will be our pick despite his poor run given he is up against a player whose overall record doesn’t make him an attractive pick. And this is despite his maiden win last week.
