Leylah Fernandez v Mirra Andreeva Head to Head

Fernandez Continues to Underperform
Once ranked 13th in the world on the back of a Grand Slam final, Fernandez has slipped down to 49th thanks to her inability to go deep into competitions.
This hasn’t been truer than this season in which the Canadian player has featured in eight tournaments and won successive main draw matches just once. And that came at the Auckland Open, which was her first ever of the season.
Since then, Fernandez has won a round in five of the tournaments but that’s where her journey has ended.
This includes a second round exit at the Charleston Open, her first appearance on clay in 2023, where Fernandez defeated Evgeniya Rodina in the opener and then fell to Paula Badosa in the second.
She will hold all the aces here against a player who has barely done too much at the highest level but given Andreeva’s performances on clay, she better be a tad careful.

Andreeva Rising and How…
Her professional career started early in 2022 with the precocious 14-year-old starting out ranked 1272nd in the world.
Today she has broken into the top 200 despite having played just two tournaments in 2023 – both of which were a part of the ITF circuit.
What makes Andreeva such a threat is her performances at that level have been superlative. She needed to qualify for the Chiasso ITF competition and came through to win the title before clinching six matches in a row to lift the trophy at Bellinzona.
Both these titles came on clay and in the lead-up to her maiden appearance here at Madrid as a wildcard.
Can she stun the world number 49 to show that she is ready to take on the world of tennis?
Fernandez v Andreeva Prediction and Tip
Fernandez starts off a 3/5 favourite which is enough of an indicator that there’s not a lot of surety about her win despite coming up against a player ranked around 150 places behind her. We will pick Andreeva to win a set.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Andreeva to win a set: 1/2 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
