Daniil Medvedev v Filip Krajinovic Head to Head
This will be the very first meeting between these two who are separated in the rankings by nearly 100 ranks.
Russian Medvedev Edging to Another Solid Showing?
There’s every chance that the winner of this match will face Rafael Nadal in the fourth round and it would be an amazing opportunity, especially for Medvedev to show that he belongs to the top level. Ranked 15th in the world, Medvedev will, however, need to get past an opponent who has come through four rounds, including two qualifiers, in straight sets and that should give him the warning signs.
Why would playing Nadal be such a big deal is because of how Medvedev has gone about his business recently. Having won three titles last year, he began this season with a runner-up trophy at Brisbane, where he lost to Kei Nishikori.
This was followed by a fourth round defeat to Novak Djokovic, but not before he had taken a set off the world number one and eventual winner. Medvedev then won his first tournament for the season and then lost to Gael Monfils in the semi-final at Rotterdam.
There are signs from these wins that the Russian has made small work of most players against him and even when he has come up against some of the big-shots, it’s not as if life’s been simple for them. Another match against Nadal should make things interesting…

…but Krajinovic is No Mug
The former world number 26 might have fallen to 113th in the world, but on his day, he can deal with the best. Krajinovic, as mentioned earlier, has already won four matches, including having sent David Goffin packing in round two.
This follows his performance at Montpellier where he made it as far as the quarter-finals and then stretched Tomas Berdych to three, long sets, and the Australian Open where he was a third round presence.
Primarily a clay court player, he had a brilliant 2017 when he won 71 of the 93 matches he played overall, including 51 out of 63 on clay but fell away in 2018 with a 14-17 win-loss record.
Daniil Medvedev v Filip Krajinovic Predictions & Tips
