Andrey Rublev v Stan Wawrinka Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these players and Wawrinka leads 2-1. None of those matches have come on clay though.

Rublev Looking to Build on Monte-Carlo Success
It’s been a hectic couple of weeks for Rublev as he continues to achieve success on clay. More known to relish hardcourt competitions, Rublev had won a couple of clay-court tournaments in his career too but none as big as the Monte-Carlo Masters.
And that’s what he did two weeks ago, defeating Holger Rune in a gritty encounter that went into the final set.
Rublev, who had also defeated Karen Khachanov and Taylor Fritz in that tournament, went on to participate in the Banja Luka Open the following week and continued this winning streak. Or at least he did that for three more matches to reach the final where he went down to Dusan Lajovic in a surprise three-set result.
What Rublev will hope for now is to go deep into this tournament again, as he continues to sustain his rhythm on the way to the French Open. Rublev had made the quarterfinals here last season.

Wawrinka Made to Work by Cressy
Maxime Cressy hasn’t done too much of note on clay and that’s exactly why he had started off a 2/1 underdog coming up against Wawrinka in their first round here.
For a while it looked like he had defied the odds too as he grabbed the first set but Wawrinka came back into the two hour, 30 minute long contest in his typically, never-give-up manner.
Wawrinka levelled the match by breaking Cressy once in the second set before needing a tie-breaker in the decider to come away a winner.
This followed a 1-2 record for Wawrinka on clay this season after he had lost in the second round at the Monte-Carlo Masters to Taylor Fritz and then fallen to the little-known Luka Van Assche in the Banja Luka opener.
Can he make Rublev work hard for his potential win?
