Elena Rybakina v Jasmine Paolini Head to Head
Rybakina and Paolini have never faced off before this.

Rybakina Hoping for Clay Improvement
She is the Australian Open runner-up. She is also an Indian Wells Open winner. And Rybakina has also made the final of the Miami Open this year.
All of that, however, does not translate to too much of form on clay as Rybakina enters the Italian Open on the back of just one win on the red dirt from three matches.
The Kazakh had to retire from her second round match at the Stuttgart Open against Beatriz Haddad Maia and she then followed that up with a shock loss in the second round of the Madrid Open too.
That Rybakina went down to Anna Kalinskaya, a player ranked outside the top 50 with real standing on clay, is an indicator itself about how her own form on clay has been.
Can she now shrug that defeat off and start things off in a better fashion against Paolini?

Paolini Needs Three Sets against Xinyu
A 4/6 favourite in her opener against Xinyu Wang, Paolini lived up to those odds but not before her Chinese opponent had pushed her into a third set.
In the end, Paolini registered her first WTA main draw win since the first week of February as she came through 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-2 in two hours and 23 minutes.
Paolini needed just one break of serve to clinch the first set and then came back from begin 0-4 down in the second to have three match-points at 6-5 in the second. Xinyu staved those off to win the set in a tie-breaker.
In the third, however, Paolini regained the upper hand by breaking Xinyu in the very first game and the effectively sealed the deal with a second break in the fifth.
Can she now take advantage of Rybakina’s clay court discomfitures?
Rybakina v Paolini Prediction and Tip
No surprises who the favourite but will this be as straightforward as the 1/5 odds for a Rybakina win represent? We don’t think so.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Over 19.5 games in the match: 4/5
- Moderate Risk Tip: Rybakina to win AND Over 19.5 games in the match: 11/8
