Lehecka Coming off Stunning Madrid Loss
Alexander Shevchenko isn’t a well-known name and it wasn’t surprising to see him start off a 2/1 underdog in his second round match against Lehecka. One could have forgiven Lehecka to have thought the same as the bookmakers too.
As it turned out, not only was Lehecka stunned by Shevchenko, he was done in in such a manner that it could have left psychological scars.
I probably overstate the repercussions of a single defeat but for Lehecka, who is a top-40 player, to go down to Shevchenko 6-1, 6-1 would have come as a huge surprise.
Overall, Lehecka looked to have done reasonably well on clay before the Madrid loss, having reached the third round at the Monte-Carlo Masters and the quarterfinals in Banja Luka.
He will hope to avoid getting stunned by another relatively unknown opponent here.

Qualifier Marozsan Wards off the Returning Moutet
Corentin Moutet hadn’t played a lot of tennis before this tournament, having been out of action because of injury. Which is also why it wasn’t surprising to see the 135th-ranked and qualifier Marozsan starts off a 3/5 favourite in his opener against Moutet.
Nearly an hour and 20 minutes into the match, it looked like Marozsan was on his way to carving out a straight-set win over Moutet and sealing his first ever main draw victory of the season.
Moutet, who had lasted a mere 19 minutes in the first set, saved four match-points and clinched the second set to force a decider.
Fortunately for Marozsan, that was about the fight that Moutet could offer as he made it through the final set with two breaks of serves.
Speaking of Marozsan, he is a clay-court specialist who has a career record of 157-86 over his lower circuit career. Can he pull off a shock win here?
Lehecka v Marozsan Prediction and Tip
While Lehecka has shown some vulnerability on clay, we think he shouldn’t have a lot of problem here and come through. Straight sets.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Lehecka to win: 4/11
- Moderate Risk Tip: Lehecka to win in straight sets: 10/11
