Beatriz Haddad Maia v Anhelina Kalinina Head to Head
Their only previous meeting at the highest level came at the 2022 Miami Open where Kalinina triumphed in three sets. There have been other ITF level matches played on clay and Kalinina had won them both too, giving her an overall 3-0 lead.

Haddad Maia Ends Osorio’s Run
Having gotten knocked out in the very first match she played in Madrid, Haddad Maia has found a way to keep going in this tournament in Rome.
After having registered straight-set wins over Elena Gabriela Ruse and Magda Linette in rounds two and three – she had an opening bye – Haddad Maia claimed a quarterfinal berth with an equally straightforward victory against Camila Osorio.
Osorio had come into the tournament as a qualifier and sent the world number five Caroline Garcia packing from the tournament in the previous round. Against Haddad Maia, however, she came a cropper as the Brazilian player won the battle of the two South Americans in an hour and 21 minutes.
Haddad Maia faced just one break-point in the contest and she saved that easily while overcoming her opponent’s serve three times from the six opportunities she got. In the end, a 6-3, 6-3 scoreline seemed like a just result.
Things get slightly tougher now against a player who has been in a similar form boat as her opponent.

Kalinina Stuns Keys
Kalinina was a slight underdog coming into her fourth round match against Madison Keys who looked like she had control of the encounter when she grabbed the first set.
That, however, only spurred the world number 47 on to come back harder and she broke Keys three times in the second set to make it a set apiece.
The pair traded breaks of serves in the very first two games of the decider before Kalinina raced off to a 0-40 lead on her opponent’s serve in the fifth game. Very soon she had broken Keys, saved two break-points on her serve before racing away to a 4-6, 6-2, 6-4 win in just over two hours.
This victory followed wins over Anna Blinkova and Sofia Kenin in the previous two rounds, and that would have given Kalinina a lot of confidence especially after Kenin had taken Aryna Sabalenka out.
Can she now put up a fight against Haddad Maia?
Haddad Maia v Kalinina Prediction and Tip
Haddad Maia is 4/5 to win this and we are inclined to go with her given she can take advantage of the kind of underwhelming season that Kalinina has had before this.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Haddad Maia to win: 4/5
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6
