Rune Climbs to Career-Best Ranking of Sixth
Having started the new year ranked 11th following his Paris Masters triumph late last season, Rune has shown a steady improvement in his performances all of this season. And that has translated into a giant leap of five spots to make it to the sixth ran on the ATP charts.
If one thought that Rune was a one-trick pony and did well only in hardcourt competitions – especially indoors – he has adjusted rather well on the slower clay courts too.
This year, he has won 13 of the 16 matches he’s played on clay including a title win at the Munich Open and finishing a finalist at the Madrid Masters. Add a second win over Novak Djokovic to that list and we are probably looking at one of the most improved players over the 12 months, second only to Carlos Alcaraz.
Last year Rune had made the quarterfinal at the French Open. He will be hoping to do at least one better this time around.

Eubanks Also at His Career-Best
While Eubanks is some way off from breaking into the top-10 like the way Rune has, he is currently at his career-best ranking of 75th in the world and that has been thanks to some of his performances in hardcourt competitions this season.
Eubanks made the second rounds at both, the Auckland Open and Australian Open to kick the season off and while he did not have a great time in the next three tournaments at the highest level, he showed what he is capable of in Miami.
At that ATP 1000 Masters event, Eubanks came through the qualifiers to defeat Denis Kudla, Borna Coric, Gregoire Barrere and Adrian Mannarino to make it to the last eight.
On clay, however, Eubanks has played in just one tournament this year – at Geneva in the week leading up to the French Open – and won and lost one. Not the kind of record you want to take to against a player of the calibre of Rune first up.
Rune v Eubanks Prediction and Tip
Rune has been in some of the best form ever in his career and it would be surprising to see him lose even one set to a player who has had his issues on clay.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Rune to win in straight sets: 4/9
