Sinner 7-2 on Clay This Season
While Sinner’s win-loss record of 7-2 on clay isn’t too bad on its own, it must be looked at through the prism of what some of the other top eight players have done this season on this surface. Sinner would have definitely liked to do a lot better.
What’s been slightly worrying is Sinner has already given his opponent a walkover in two matches this season because of illness. After one of them, in Barcelona, he also went on to miss the Madrid Masters because of the same.
The good news is Sinner returned to play in Rome but did struggle to clinch his place in the fourth round. And in that round of 16 encounter, Sinner then fell to a three-set loss to Francisco Cerundolo from being a set up.
Safe to say that of all the top eight players, Sinner’s form looks the least inspiring coming into this tournament but his overall pedigree isn’t too much in doubt.
It would therefore be a matter of Sinner getting into full fitness and building towards some rhythm as he looks to enter the second week of this tournament.

Muller’s Never Won a Match at French Open
His career-best ranking of 94th in the world came earlier this season when Muller made the final of the Marrakesh Open. Just a few weeks before that performance he was ranked 174th in the world but that showing looked to be the turning point for him.
As a result of that, Muller was also able to make it to the French Open as a direct entrant based on his ranking unlike all his attempts before that.
Since then, however, Muller’s form has tapered away a little as the Frenchman has won just two main draw matches across five tournaments. One of them came in a Challenger tournament and the other at the Italian Open where he qualified to the first round before overcoming Kyle Edmund.
It looks highly unlikely he would have much in his arsenal to test a player of the pedigree of Sinner but at the same time he could look to have a ball and enjoy his time out there in front of the home crowd.
Sinner v Muller Prediction and Tip
Sinner can be expected to win in straight sets with only one caveat – his fitness. Because of that very reason I might not want to go all out on a straight-set win for Sinner. An interesting high-risk option could be a tie-breaker in the match or for Muller to win a set.
Tips:
- High Risk Tip: Over 0.5 tie-breakers in the match: 9/4
- High Risk Tip: Muller to win a set – Yes: 6/4
