Schwartzman’s struggles have also been partly psychological admitting a few months ago that his father’s health was weighing heavily on his mind.

Schwartzman has lost 11 of his 13 matches contested on clay in 2023, with a string of first-round exits to boot. In fact, he arrives in Paris on the back of a five-match losing streak.

But on the brighter side, he’s had great success at the clay slam. Schwartzman has been to a semfinal here back in 2020 where he defeated Dominic Thiem in a five-set thriller. Will a return to Paris evoke good memories to mastermind an upset on Sunday?
