After losing in the first round in her first three appearances at the French Open, Marie Bouzkova finally won her opening round match in Roland Garros against Anastasia Gasanova last year. Playing Bouzkova will be Wang Xinyu, who is yet to win a match on clay this season.
The Chinese player will be making her second appearance at Roland Garros after making a first round exit last year. The 21-year-old has not played a lot of tennis on clay but one of her six ITF titles have come on the surface.
This year she brings a 14-14 season record into the tournament and that includes qualifying rounds and ITF matches as well.
She was in great touch on hard courts, reaching the semifinals in Hua Hin, the quarterfinals in Hobart, and the third round at Indian Wells but she has lost all four of her clay court matches this year, losing the first round matches in Madrid, Reus, Rome and Strasbourg.
