Mixed Clay Court Results for Fucsovics This Year

Although Fucsovics first began competing in Paris in 2014, it took him four years before he could even qualify for the main draw.

Since then, the furthest he has been in this tournament is a fourth round appearance in 2020.

Although the Hungarian is better known for his exploits on harder, faster courts, he does have a clay court title to his name, having won the Geneva Open back in 2018.

He has enjoyed mixed results on the surface so far this year. In Monte Carlo he battled through qualifying only to lose in the first round, and then, after making the second round in Munich, suffered another first round exit.

Rome, though went better for the Hungarian number one, and he reached the third round there, beating Alex de Minaur in the process, before losing to Cameron Norrie.

However, he has just endured another first round defeat in Lyon.

Grenier Gets a Wildcard to Make Main Draw

Although he is now 27, it was only last year that Grenier made both his Grand Slam debut as a Lucky Loser at Wimbledon, a feat he was to repeat at the US Open. He lost in the second round both times.

Two wins on the Challenger tour in 2022 helped him break into the top 100 for the first time in his career, although his ranking has subsequently slipped.

He did achieve more Challenger success in March in Spain on hard courts, but since switching to clay, his form has been mixed.

Grenier was beaten in the first round in Marrakech, and failed to qualify in Barcelona.

However, he performed much better in Madrid, where he not only qualified but reached the third round before losing to Alexander Zverev. He also qualified in Rome but lost in the first round, before failing to make the main draw in Lyon.

He is the recipient of a wildcard into his home Grand Slam for the first time.

Fucsovics v Grenier Prediction and Tip

Although Fucsovics is not known as a clay court specialist, he has far more Grand Slam experience than his opponent, and should have too many shots in his armoury for the Roland Garros debutant.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Fucsovics to win: 1/5
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Fucsovics to win in straight sets: 11/8
