Grigor Dimitrov v Nicolas Jarry Head to Head

In their only previous meeting Jarry had defeated Dimitrov in three sets at the 2019 Barcelona Open.

Dimitrov Stuns Fritz

Having come into his semifinal match against Taylor Fritz as a 6/4 second favourite, Dimitrov looked to be headed out when he lost the first set and then faced four break-points across his first two service games.

While he broke Fritz in the fifth game, Dimitrov lost his serve again in the eighth and the match looked to be headed Fritz’s way again.

Against the run of play, Dimitrov converted the first set-point he got in the 12th game, and while he couldn’t get any sort of an advantage in the decider, he took the encounter in the following tie-breaker.

What this win means is Dimitrov is in his first ATP tournament final since February 2018. Will it be his first title now since 2017?

Jarry Sends Zverev Packing

Till before the start of this edition of the Geneva Open, Jarry had never won a match in this tournament. Make no mistake he had played a few times, dating back to 2015 but two qualifying and three opening round losses later, Jarry would have been wondering if he would ever make it past round one.

Not only has he done that in this edition, Jarry has also made it to the final – his second of the season – with some remarkable wins.

In the quarterfinals, Jarry had overcome a first set deficit to shock Casper Ruud and that was followed by a 7-6 (3), 6-3 win against Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.

Jarry needed an hour and 48 minutes to get there but what was amazing from his point of view was the Chilean player faced a mere one break-point in the entire match and wasn’t broken even once.

He now starts off a favourite in this final.

Dimitrov v Jarry Prediction and Tip

While there’s a lot to celebrate for the way Dimitrov has played in this tournament, Jarry will hold the edge on clay and should come through in this one.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Jarry to win: 4/5
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Three sets in the match: 6/5
