Baez Hoping to Better Previous Roland Garros Showing
Baez has shot to fame in recent times with his consistent showing on clay having risen to 30th in the world recently. In the last couple of months, he has settled back to 44th on the ATP charts but on clay, Baez has shown to be a really dangerous customer.
This can also be seen from the fact that 16 of the 17 matches he’s won this season have been in clay-court competitions.
This includes a title win in Cordoba, and more recently a quarterfinal appearance at the Lyon Open where he overcame Marton Fucsovics and Pedro Cachin in successive matches.
Baez’s issue so far has been his inability to go deep into the bigger tournaments – like the Masters events at Monte-Carlo, Madrid or Rome, or even the French Open itself. His best showing at Roland-Garros has been his second round appearance last season and that’s something he would like to turn around.

Monfils Still in Early Days of Getting Back on Tour
Having been out of action for most of the second half of 2022 and resuming his time on the tour only in March this season, Monfils is still some way away from feeling his best.
The former top 10 player has slipped down the rankings, coming into his home Grand Slam ranked 386th and unless he starts to win matches soon enough, things could get even more difficult for him.
So far this season, Monfils has played eight matches and won just one. And even that victory came on the Challenger circuit, and against a player ranked ranked 279th in the world. Other than that, Monfils has won just two sets.
One of those two sets came in Lyon last week where Monfils was then beaten in three by Pedro Cachin. Against Baez in a best-of-five contest, things could get even more difficult for him.
Baez v Monfils Prediction and Tip
This should be as easy as they come for Baez and while it’s difficult to predict if he might take this in straight sets, it’s safe to say it would be a win for Baez.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Baez to win: 1/4
- Moderate Risk Tip: Under 36.5 games in the match: 5/6
