Fritz Shushes the French Crowd
It might not have been the best idea to do it at that time but whether or not Fritz agrees with that, it did add a lot of fervour to the proceedings. We are talking about the American’s reaction to the crowd boos after he had defeated the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in the second round at the French Open.
The reason why we are even talking about this in a preview to his next match is because the one thing he has assured would happen is the crowd will not be on his side. That could motivate a few players – like it does to Novak Djokovic – but we are yet to see how that works for Fritz.
Earlier in the tournament Fritz had had no issues taking down Michael Mmoh but up against Rinderknech, he dropped the first set despite having started off a 3/25 favourite in the encounter.
He went on to win 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 in a match that could have easily gone the other way.
Can he now ignore the possibility of the crowds taking him on in a match against the world number 23 and clay-court specialist, Cerundolo?

Cerundolo Has No Trouble against Hanfmann
Yannick Hanfmann has come into his own on clay and while Cerundolo was a favourite coming into his match against him, things were expected to get a little close.
In the end, nothing of that sort happened as Cerundolo sent Hanfmann out with a 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 win that needed him two hours and 36 minutes.
Cerundolo was broken back early in the first set after he had himself missed six chances to go 3-0 but he stormed back with two breaks of serves to clinch the opener. The two traded early breaks yet again in the second set but once he had gone 3-1 up, there was no looking back for the Argentine.
He might have missed five set-points on his own serve at 5-3 but he made it through and then broke Hanfmann again in the fifth game of the third set to finish off the contest.
The Argentine will need to do a lot better than the 49 unforced errors that he dished out in this match when he faces Fritz though.
Fritz v Cerundolo Prediction and Tip
