Anna Blinkova v Laura Siegemund Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before.
This will be the first match between Siegemund, who is now 35, and Blinkova, eleven years her junior.

Siegemund Approaching Veteran Stage
Siegemund is now approaching the veteran stage of her career, but, in all the years she has appeared at Wimbledon, the German has never been beyond the second round of the singles there, although she has featured in the third round of the doubles twice.
In fact, it is in doubles that she has enjoyed the greatest success, winning the US Open titles in the women’s and the mixed event.
At her peak she was ranked in the top 30, but slowly she has drifted down the rankings as the years have advanced, and no longer automatically qualifies for a place in the main draw for an event such as this.
Instead, she was forced to go through the rigours of qualifying, which she managed with comparative ease.
First she defeated compatriot Ella Seidel, in straight sets, and then did the same to the world number 81, Elena Avanesyan.

Blinkova Coming off Strasbourg Final
Blinkova has just come off the back of a relatively successful clay court season.
She reached her second WTA final in Strasbourg before finally losing to Elina Svitolina, and then went on to make the third round of the French Open for the second time in her career, before losing to the same opponent.
Her record on grass is more modest. She first appeared at Wimbledon in 2017, and since then, has made the second round twice (although, like all Russian players she was banned from competing there last year).
Not having chosen to play in any of the warm-up events before, this will be her first math of the season on grass, having instead opted to take several weeks off after her latest defeat to Svitolina.
This will be a test of her adaptability, as much as anything else.
Blinkova v Siegemund Prediction and Tip
Playing an opponent ranked 114 places below her in the world, Blinkova starts favourite, but she will need to get up to speed on grass quickly if she wants to progress.
Siegemund’s chances should not be discounted, especially with the German crowd behind her.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Blinkova to win: 8/11
- Moderate Risk Tip: Under 22.5 games in the match: 5/4
