Holger Rune v Ryan Peniston Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players and it came on the grass courts of Eastbourne last year. Interestingly enough it was Peniston who won the match in three sets.

Rune Stretched by Cressy
Maxime Cressy played rather well in his opening round encounter at Queen’s but his opponent Rune held a very slight edge and came through in two tie-breakers to make it to round two.
Rune needed nearly two hours to get past Cressy, winning 7-6 (4), 7-6 (3) to register what was his first ever win on grass.
A top-10 player, Rune had played a mere three matches on grass before this – losing every single time – but looked like that had barely caused a dent in his confidence. He was broken once in the match when Cressy took a 3-1 lead but came back to level things off as the American served for the set at 5-3.
From then on, neither player struggled with his respective serves, pushing both sets into a tie-breaker. The French Open quarterfinalist’s confidence remained unwavering and he clinched his berth in round two soon after.
Can he avenge his previous loss on grass to Peniston?

Peniston Shocks Humbert
Peniston was once ranked 123rd in the world but has now fallen to 265th. He came into this tournament on a wildcard and not too much would have been expected from him even as he took on Ugo Humbert in his opener.
Now Humbert is not a top-10 player by any stretch but he still was a 1/5 favourite to win their opener.
What happened was in sharp contrast to that with Peniston registering a 6-4, 6-2 victory in an hour and 25 minutes and march into the second round.
An early couple of breaks of serves gave Peniston a stunning foothold in the encounter, and while he did lose his serve once in the opening set he served it to love over the next two games to take the lead.
In the second, Peniston did exactly the same with two breaks of serves to his name again. Only this time there was no coming back from Humbert who fell away quite quickly after that.
He will hope to put up a show against Rune too.
Rune v Peniston Prediction and Tip
Rune can be expected to win this but on grass things could get a tad tricky for him. While he could still come away a winner in two we could see a few games played.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Rune to win: 1/4
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 20.5 games in the match: 5/6
