Cori Gauff v Ekaterina Alexandrova Head to Head
There has been one previous meeting between these two players and Gauff had won that in three gruelling sets in Dubai in 2021.

Gauff Has No Trouble against Siniakova
While Gauff might be a tad disappointed with the way the season has gone for her so far, her opening round win over Katerina Siniakova on the grass court of Berlin should give her renewed hopes of turning a corner.
Gauff had entered the season hoping to find a Grand Slam breakthrough and while she has done reasonably well so far, she hasn’t gone past the quarterfinal mark at either of the two Grand Slams played so far. The question is if she can find her rhythm at Wimbledon.
She did start off the grass swing well with a first round victory over Katerina Siniakova here, defeating the Czech 6-3, 6-4 to move into the second. All it took her was an hour and 16 minutes.
The American faced just one break-point in the match – it came late in the second set – but she saved it easily, while overcoming her opponent’s serve on two occasions in the encounter. More vitally, Gauff lost just five points off her own serve in the first set and while Siniakova managed to do a tad better in the second, there wasn’t too much respite for her.
Gauff has a tougher second round opponent but should start a favourite.

Alexandrova Makes it Six in Six
After having won the Rosmalen Open title last week with a title-deciding victory over fellow Russian player Veronika Kudermetova, Alexandrova added a sixth successive victory to her tally with a straight-set win over Liudmilla Samsonova here.
Alexandrova had a similar scoreline as Gauff in her opener, defeating Samsonova 6-4, 6-3 to march into round two. The match lasted an hour and 39 minutes with Alexandrova having come into it as a 4/6 favourite after her performance from the previous week.
There were four successive breaks of serves in the first set that took them to 4-4 but Alexandrova’s first set-point on Samsonova’s serve at 4-5 gave her the lead. In the second, Alexandrova did not lose her serve again despite facing two break-points and then followed it up with a break of serve in the eighth game.
Soon after that, the Russian had served it out to love to make it to round two and she will hope to bring down Gauff for her seventh successive victory.

Gauff is a favourite here but we will have to consider Alexandrova’s form here which makes it a tough pick. Going with three sets in the match.
